Hidden Insights: Astrology for the week of 28 January 2018

The big news this week at Hidden Insights is the Blue Super Blood Moon Eclipse. Yes, you heard that right. This week’s eclipse will be a Super Moon, Blood Moon, and a Blue Moon. A Super Moon occurs when the Moon is at its closest point to the Earth. A Blood Moon is noted by the red colour made by a total lunar eclipse. A Blue Moon occurs when two Full Moons occur in the same month. While not uncommon individually, when they occur together it’s a rare event indeed. Together they intensify the effects of an eclipse. The intense energy is felt in the week leading up to, the week of, and the week after the eclipse.

The 31 January 2018 eclipse aligns with Venus conjoined with the Sun. This reveals that this eclipse will help us reconnect with what is intuitive, soft, and affectionate. Of course, nothing ever comes easy with an eclipse, and in order to get to these energies we must first confront some emotional upset. This is likely to manifest in our relationships with woman and the female archetypes in our lives. Women as a whole are highlighted with this eclipse, and globally we are likely to see it trigger more marches, rallies, and the empowered voice of women. In the United States this has already manifested in the pre-eclipse energy as the marches across the country in defiance of Donald Trump.1

We must also remember that eclipses signal a time of endings, and such a powerful eclipse will likely bring to a close certain aspects of our lives. In the sign of Leo, many of us will see a change in the way we express our identity. Children are also ruled by Leo, and we may experience changes to the way we handle relationships with those younger than us.

Astro Homework

An eclipse can be a very powerful and transformative period, and I would like to encourage everyone to use this energy to your advantage. With Venus, we have the opportunity to reinvent ourselves. Before the 31st, make a list of things you want to change in how you present yourself to the world. Do you come off too shy? Do you want to appear more competent at your job? Perhaps you wish to express more empathy or kindness. On the day of the eclipse take the list you made and think about saying goodbye to your old self. This goodbye is like the shadow of the Earth passing over the Moon. Its old light is dying, and as the shadow passes a new light shines. This is the energy you are harnessing to help produce a personal metamorphosis.

Aries (21 March — 20 April)

This week is all about getting caught up, Aries. The building energy of the eclipse may have thrown your routine off, but this week you are able to get back on track. Early in the week you can anticipate a change in your routine, so you may want to give yourself extra time in the morning until the kinks are worked out. The eclipse this week triggers your house of creativity and leisure. You can expect to be presented with a new creative challenge this week, so be prepared to think outside the box. Just remember that sometimes details are difficult for you, so try not to commit to anything that requires intricate work. Over the weekend your family comes into focus, and it may be important for you to spend some time with loved ones. If you don’t have anything planned, try to make time for those important people in your life you don’t see every day.

Patronus: Elephant

Taurus (21 April — 20 May)

You’ll be pleased to know, Taurus, that you’ll be able to do what you love best this week by spending a great deal of time at home. A mother figure also features prominently this week, and early in the week, you two may be spending some quality time together. Remember that the eclipse energy makes everyone a little edgy, so try not to engage in any arguments that could spark some heated words between the two of you. The eclipse itself will ignite your living space, and it is likely that the extra time spent at home will focus on rearranging, organizing, and generally clearing away clutter. Over the weekend you may experience a burst in your physical energy. While others around you may be fighting a tough flu season, your own immune system is likely to be strong right now. For that reason, you may be called to care for someone at home who is dealing with seasonal issues.

Patronus: Penguin

Gemini (21 May — 20 June)

You have a busy week ahead, Gemini, with people coming out of the proverbial woodwork for your attention. This will be most evident early in the week, so don’t anticipate much down time. Remember, while those around you seem to be in hyper emotional states, it is your unique rational outlook that will help them put problems into focus. This week’s eclipse allows you to expand your mind through exciting conversations with others. This is the perfect week to network, or reach out to people who can challenge your way of thinking. Remember that eclipses are all about transformation, and it’s time for your brain to do some changing. Much like an epiphany, don’t be surprised if you come to some miraculous conclusion that helps you connect with a trauma from your past. Over the weekend your busy schedule continues, though it’s most likely related to house work you have been putting off.

Patronus: Cheetah

Cancer (21 June — 20 July)

It’s going to be one of those weeks where you seem to misplace everything, Cancer. Do your best not to get too stressed about misplaced items. Most of what goes missing will return, but only after you stop obsessing. You might also want to hold off buying replacements unless absolutely necessary. If you do, keep your receipt. When what you’ve lost turns up, you’ll likely want to return it. While we are on the topic of money, it may feel like you’ve somehow spent more than you have realized. Try to be vigilant in your spending this week, otherwise this eclipse could put you into debt. As the Moon is your ruling planet, any eclipse will touch you deeper than most. For that reason, it is best to hold of any type of important conversations ’til later. This powerful eclipse will set fire to your emotions, and you’ll even get a boost to your psychic sensitivities. Allow yourself to have these experiences, especially on Wednesday and Thursday. Over the weekend it looks as though a family member turns up out of the blue. Chances are this will be a harmonious interaction, and nothing too dramatic.

Patronus: Rhinoceros

Leo (21 July — 20 August)

Early in the week you’re likely to be brimming with a sense of urgency and impatience, Leo. Much like Aries, you may be trying to figure out how to find your footing and establish a sense of normalcy after a very busy weekend. My best advice for dealing with this is to take life one minute at a time, or even one moment at a time if necessary. This week’s eclipse occurs in the sign of Leo. For those of you born on August 5th, 6th, or 7th, this will signal a significant turning point in your life, and some event could change your life’s direction forever. While all Leos can anticipate some upset in their lives due to this eclipse, it’s really more about starting a new chapter. As a fixed sign, dealing with change is never easy, but it’s a part of life. Whatever you are faced with, you need to accept it as a necessary shift. Over the weekend the eclipse vibrations will start to even out, and you can tie up some loose ends so that by the start of next week, you’ll feel back in balance.

Patronus: Chihuahua

Virgo (21 August — 20 September)

This week may feel a bit more frustrating than usual, Virgo, and it’s quite possible you may have to fight off a cold. If you are not the one battling the sniffles, it could be your child or someone in your home that needs your attention. Either way, you seem to be dealing with those who are ill this week. The eclipse on the 31st could bring a tense situation you’ve been putting off dealing with to a head. It forces you to face some personal demons that have been looming in the background. While all of this sounds like you’re in for a pretty rough week, we all need to be tested at times. It just happens to be your week. Fortunately, you’ll be much better off once everything is out in the open and finally dealt with. Over the weekend the transiting Moon releases its tension and it’s like a breath of fresh air. The weekend promises both laughter and joy. Chances are you’ll find yourself surrounded by those encouraging you to have a good time. Listen to them, and let go of being too critical of what you have been dealing with.

Patronus: Hare

Libra (21 September — 20 October)

Get ready to be the centre of attention this week, Libra, as the stars shine their spotlight on you. For most of the week it will be nearly impossible for you to lay low, so make sure you put your best foot forward. It’s also possible that a group, club, or organization you belong to comes calling for you to either lead or serve. If you are currently in a position of leadership, you may experience a shift in responsibilities. This week’s eclipse aligns with Venus, your ruling planet. This promises a chance encounter with a woman who will likely be keeping a close eye on you. Again, use this to your advantage by being the best you can this week. While most of the week is focused on you, the weekend could be somewhat disappointing. It may feel as though everyone has a disappeared, and you find yourself with too much time on your hands. If you don’t want to spend the weekend by yourself, make plans early while you still can.

Patronus: Walrus

Scorpio (21 October — 20 November)

You’re no stranger to power plays, Scorpio, and you’ll get the chance to use your prowess this week. You’ll see this mostly at work, where certain people may seem to be trying to outdo you. Fortunately, you’re able to see right through others right now, and you won’t fall for any of the heightened drama. As the eclipse triggers your 10th house, its energy is likely to bring a change to your status at work. If you navigate the drama at work properly, this eclipse could be very beneficial for your career ambitions. It may also trigger a new job, promotion, or work project. An eclipse in this position can also create some issues with authority figures, so you’ll want to be cautious with any interactions you have with those who have power over you. This goes for bosses, police, landlords, parents, or teachers. Over the weekend you may find yourself in what seems to be personal solitary confinement. If you feel the need to retreat, do it. Now is the time for you to work on a side project you may have been putting off.

Patronus: Fox

Sagittarius (21 November — 20 December)

The rest of the world seems to be losing its mind this week, Sagittarius, and you will be able to sit back and watch the chaos from a safe distance. You seem to be the calm and stable rock that everyone should be reaching to for stability. Unfortunately, no one is thinking rationally enough to see how strong and stable you are. By mid-week you can expect the need to escape from all the chaos, and you’d do best to spend your free time reading, writing, or just surfing the Internet. This is also a great week to reconnect with your own spirituality. Take time on Wednesday to think about what role spirituality — or even a lack of spirituality — plays in your life. Friday heats up for you, and you may receive an unexpected phone call from a man you haven’t heard from in a while. Over the weekend you two could reconnect face to face ,and spend a fantastic time debating some of the more subtle philosophies of life. At that point you’ll be happy you spent the earlier part of the week connecting with your own beliefs.

Patronus: Owl

Capricorn (21 December —20 January)

Your calm and cool demeanor will have the opportunity to shine right now, Capricorn. Early this week, you may be called to act as a mediator and make sense of a situation others can’t solve. Slow and methodical, you’ll be occupied with putting out metaphorical fires for those around you. This week’s eclipse triggers your sector of debt and others finances. In Leo, this could easily manifest as one of your children needing some upkeep with their financial health. If you have no children, then you can expect to be crunching more numbers than usual. Fortunately, you won’t run into any frustrations here, and you’ll be able to balance the books with ease. Over the weekend, you can expect to exert a great deal of physical activity. While it does not appear to be purposeful exercise, you could easily end up helping a friend move, or doing some heavy lifting in your own home.

Patronus: Ox

Aquarius (21 January — 20 February)

While Valentine’s Day is still a few weeks away, Aquarius, you’re feeling more amorous than usual this week. Unfortunately, those who you wish to be romantic with may not be feeling quite as romantic as you are right now. Don’t let this stop you; others need a bit of romance this week with the intensity of the eclipse. Not surprisingly, the eclipse hits your house of partnerships, which is likely to test interpersonal relationships. More specifically, your own ego may get in the way, and you’ll need to resolve how to work cooperatively together. What you don’t want to do is make any overly emotional decisions this week that could either take a partnership to the next level, or end it all together. Over the weekend you’ll want to make sure you save some time to deal with taking care of some outstanding debts. You may also hear about a friend or family member that has been ill. If this happens, make use of your humanitarian nature and send warm well wishes.

Patronus: Turtle

Pisces (21 February — 20 March)

You have an exciting week ahead, Pisces, as you will be able to navigate the cloudy waters of this eclipse better than any other sign. With all the intense lunar energy around, you feel in your element and are able to not only be productive, but focused. Early in the week, you can expect to make great progress on a project or task you have had a hard time committing to. When you have finally finished or mapped it all out, pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Wednesday’s eclipse will strike your house of routines and health. This will signal a new chapter in your life related to how you deal with your own well-being. Truly a fluid creature at heart, you often feel the need to change things up, particularly when it comes to your eating and exercise habits. However, this week something may seem a little different. The eclipse allows you to draw a hard line between where you are and where you want to go in terms of your lifestyle. Over the weekend you can expect to experience a chance romantic encounter that will have you feeling like a teenager in love.
