Spiral Nature

By: Gaea

It starts in the dark
In the love
In the dark
Where the moonlight shines

There's a new world then
Hidden pleasures to find,
Possibilities
Where the moonlight shines

Soon there's harmony
And bliss inside
The female awakening
Where the moonlight shines

The seed grows
Flower ripening
Ready to bear fruit, in the circle
Where the moonlight shines

Then, anew, it happens in the dark
In the love
In the dark
Where the moonlight shines

The frail frame withers
The new spirits flower
From the dark
Where the moonlight shines

Hi

I first came upon the Spiral Nature site when I was looking for some information about Wicca. By that time I had written the poem that follows, inspired by the cyclical patterns of the spiral symbol, the way nature is so profoundly involved in Paganism, but specially the way the female cycles reflect those in nature and are consequently celebrated in Pagan rituals. The book Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley was another reason for the poem. When I went through the site, I thought how odd it was that I had written a poem with the same title, and wondered if I should send it. So, after quite a while and several visits, I have decided to send the poem and I hope you enjoy it, though it is nothing compared to the intellectual articles I have seen so far on your site. Thank you for sitting through this.

[Note: This poem was sent with the above message, and while Spiral Nature (the website) traditionally publishes non-fictional articles and essays, this poem and message touched me, and I thought I'd share it with the rest of you. It's a famililar story to many of us; I hope you enyjoyed the poem and this bit of synchronicity as much as I did. --Psyche]
