Paganism The word 'pagan' comes from the Latin paganus meaning 'country-dweller'. Today it is used as a general term for the followers of magickal, shamanistic and polytheistic religions that have a reverence for nature. The term 'neo-pagan' - literally, a 'new-pagan' - refers to a member, follower or sympathizer of one of the newly formed pagan religions now spreading throughout the world. 'Paleo-pagan' refers to the ancient pagan religions as practiced by those of the Stone Age, or which are signifigantly older than the type of paganism practiced today. |
