I must admit that this book was not on my review list at the start of the year. I am not astrologically oriented. In fact, I often find astrology books to be either boring or intimidating. But, since Llewellyn has been very accommodating as far as my eclectic list of requests go, I figured I would return the favor.
This is not an intimidating, boring book. That is not to say that it was a book I couldn’t put down, but it was one that I found myself nor hesitating to read in my usual style. I normally allot two weeks per book. In many cases I have to force myself pick a book up during the day. This was not one of those books.
Each moon sign is covered in moderate depth (don’t worry, the author provides a quick, easy method to determine your moon sign, if you don’t already know it). Then, how that sign reacts under the influence of lunar position during the month is explored. Mr. Pharr makes it quite clear that some of the information is exaggerated to make a point, and that not all of it will apply to everyone. Still, the sections on the Gemini moon (which is what mine is) seemed to be fairly accurate. Much of the information given in each of the "...personality in the ... moon" sections is similar for each of the Lunar signs, but that is to be expected since the influences are similar - it is merely the interactions which change. There are enough variations, however, to show that plenty of thought has gone into the writing of them.
Like most astrology books, this is best read and assimilated slowly. There is, in my opinion, a danger of information overload of you attempt to make sense of too much, too quickly.
This was one of the most enjoyable books on astrology that I have had the pleasure of reading during the past several years.
