An excellent novel about the corporate race to market marijuana, undertaken by the big tobacco companies before legalization.
Michael (Mike) Evans is a thirty-two year old advertising exec. who's just been promoted to take over a new project: marketing marijuana to the masses. Unfortunately for poor Mike, not everyone believes that it's a great idea, and he's forced to consider his position morally. Eventually, dear Mike comes to the understanding that there is a a very distinctive difference between addiction and dependance - one that especially needs to be noted today in light of current events surrounding the potential legalization or decriminalization of the substance in countries today, such as Canada and Great Britian.
Peppered with meeting minutes, telegrams, copy sheets budget sheets, and the usual paperwork associated with advertising, makes for a facinating look into what needs to be done and how.
Well written, believeable characters, likeable, though hardly saintly. An excellent novel. Pity it's out of print.
