Correspondences

Lists of correspondences can be extensive. Correspondence is the word used for all sorts of things - colours, numbers, plants, creatures, compass points, concepts, etc - that have an affinity with each other. In other words, they harmonize.

They are used in magick on the principle that "like attracts like" and so for spells a magickan would chose colours, stones, etc that are in keeping with the purpose.

As well certain colours and stones have a specific psychological effect that helps put one in a state of ritual consciousness that is required for certain types of spells or workings.

Remember, these are traditional, and traditions may vary somewhat. So respect the traditions, but follow your feelings and "if in doubt, leave it out".
